This past Wednesday, we wrapped up our six week run at Chicago’s very own Apollo Theater Studio.  On behalf of Batterymouth, I want to give a big “thank you” to everyone who came out to catch us at any point during the run.  Thanks for supporting long form improv.  You’re awesome.

Speaking of being thankful to our audience, way to come up with some kick ass suggestions!  I’ve got to say, we got something unique and different every week, which gave us a lot of cool stuff to play with.  Here’s the list of suggestions, in order:

* Singing Telegram
* Venus
* Waffles
* Loose
* Carrots
* Treasure Troll

Yep, those are still awesome.

And, of course, thank you to all of the fabulous groups who opened for us throughout the run - The Fling, The Cosby Sweaters, Nipple Competition, Valid Hysteria and Salmon.  It really was humbling to be able to share the same stage as these guys and gals every week.

So, thanks again to everybody and be sure to keep checking out our website to see when we’ll be performing next.  I’m sure we’ll be adding some new performances in the next month or so, but in the meantime, next stop: Twin Cities Improv Festival.

Improv is nothing if not spontaneous.  So, in the spirit of that, the opening group for tomorrow’s show at the Apollo Theater Studio is changing and will now be Salmon!  While you might not know Salmon, you almost definitely know it’s improvisers - Pat Dwyer and Erin Pallesen of Kerpatty and Erin Rooney of Nipple Competition.  All three of these folks are hilarious separately, so you can imagine how funny they’ll be together - or maybe you can’t!  Maybe they’ll be so funny that you can’t even wrap your head around it.  There’s only one way to find out…

The show is still at 8:00pm, it’s still our last show of this run and we’re still going out to Irish Eyes afterwards.  So, come catch Salmon, come catch Batterymouth and help us celebrate the end of a great run!

This coming Wednesday will be the last show of our six week run at the Apollo Theater Studio.  Our good friends, Nipple Competition, will be opening for us and we anticipate a fun-filled, go-out-with-bang night of improv.  The show starts at 8:00, but make sure to get there early so that you can grab a drink from the bar and get cozy (the bartender usually splits at 8:05).  Afterwards we will be going out to Irish Eyes for a little after show beverage and possibly a punching contest…yes…a punching contest (don’t worry, no one gets hurt).  So come out…bring your friends, bring your enemies, bring your significant others, bring your moms and dads, bring your boss, bring your party pants, and bring your laughter…lots and lots of laughter.

Batterymouth…in a Photobooth

Last night Zack and I went out to The Playground Theater to check out our boy Dave in Tarantino: The Improvised Show (check out an earlier post about the show here).  Afterwards we went out with the cast to Town Hall Pub.  To say the least, the place is a dive…most…definitely.  It looks like an unfinished basement with liquor bottles lining one of the walls.  And what dive bar would be complete without a jukebox packed with Steve Miller’s Greatest Hits and…a photobooth.

After a couple of beers, I mentioned that it might be a great idea for the three of us to squeeze into the photobooth.  We briefly decided what the four photos should be:

1. Thumbs up

2. Serious Face

3. F*** with each other

4. Whatever

This, however, is what actually happened:

1. Thumbs Up. Confusion. Not sure if the picture was actually taken.

2. Thumbs Up…Again.

3. Zack throws his glass of water everywhere.

4. Apparently we are all at the top of a log plume ride.

Ahhhh memories.  Enjoy…

This June, Batterymouth is going to be taking the show on the road to perform at the Twin Cities Improv Festival.  For those of you who don’t know, TCIF is an annual improv festival that takes place in Minneapolis, MN every year (hence, “annual”).  This year’s festival is taking place June 25th - 28th and it looks like there will be a nice long form Chicago improv presence there including some of our friends (The Cosby Sweaters) and some of our side projects (Tarantino: The Improvised Show).  We don’t know the exact date, time and location of our performance at the festival yet, but as soon as we know, you’ll know.  So, pack your bags and get ready for a Batterymouth roadtrip this June.
