Our friend Sarah’s band - MyMyMy - just released their first music video and I’m of the opinion that you should watch it.
Why?
Well, first off, it’s a pretty funny parody of… You know what? I’m not going to tell you what it’s a parody of. If you don’t know what it’s a parody of after watching it, we really can’t be friends anymore.
Second, the song - “Middle Aged Hardware and Youthful Indiscretion” - is pretty awesome and you’ll actually enjoy listening to it.
Third, our buddy Nick plays a Libyan terrorist in the video. How often do you get an excuse to write that sentence?
Ladies, say your man cain’t cook? Well, this man can. Okay, so he’s not really a man. He used to be. When he was alive. Yeah, he’s not really alive anymore either. SO he’s got a few negatives against him. At least he can make the shit out of some grilled cheese, which is precisely what he’s doing in the following video. The Gentlemen of Long Pork, of which I’m proud to say I’m a member, have posted a new comedic short, and HERE IT IS!!!
As Mark mentioned in his previous post, Zack and I recently did an interview on Comcast’s Community Connection, a weekly program that airs on CN100. For those of you without Comcast or who missed us on the show, boy do we have a special treat for you. With the power of the internets we can now share that interview with you on our own website. Watch as we chat with Cindy Bravos about how we got into improv, talk about where the name Batterymouth came from and improvise for 45 seconds when we usually do a half-hour show. Enjoy!
Thanks to everyone who came to our show on Wednesday - our second of six long form improv shows we’re doing at Chicago’s very own Apollo Theater Studio. Our suggestion was “Venus” and the show included Zack burying Mark in a garden co-op, Mark hitting beers out of my hands (and the air) and onto the floor and me hitting both of them with a roll of paper towels. I think there were some scenes in there too. Good times.
For this run we’ve been going all Brechtian and hanging out with folks in the audience pre-show, which has been a good time. One of the people we chatted with before the show this week was Pat Dwyer of the sketch comedy group Kerpatty. Outside of the standard pleasantries, we ended up talking about a lip dub video that the group had recently put on YouTube which all three of us had previously watched and enjoyed. In an interesting follow-up to my Katy Perry blog post, the song that they’re lip dubbing just happens to be “I Kissed a Girl.” Irony.
Considering the fact that all three of us got a kick out of the video, I figured I might as well share it with all of you at home players here. Enjoy.
